TECHNOLOGY / ENGINEERING METHOD

Designed from
the switching edge.

Every GPropulsion controller platform is designed and developed by our engineering team. From PCB power paths and protection circuits to FOC tuning and thermal behavior, the architecture is built around the application.

01 / ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY

Reliability is an
architecture decision.

We design the control electronics, sensing, and power stage together, then validate them against electrical, thermal, and mechanical constraints.

01

Power stage first

MOSFET or SiC device selection, commutation paths, decoupling, gate-loop inductance, and thermal interfaces are designed as one system.

02

Protection in hardware

Analog overcurrent trips and fault latches act independently of firmware when the power stage crosses a defined limit.

03

Control from measured reality

Phase-current measurement, rotor position feedback, and motor parameter identification shape the FOC loop and field-weakening behavior.

02 / CONTROLLER ARCHITECTURE

Control that knows
when to stop.

High current is useful only when sensing and protection remain deterministic. Our controller development puts fault response in the hardware path and uses firmware for control, diagnostics, and coordinated derating.

01 / GATE DRIVE

Discrete half-bridge drivers

Independent gate-drive channels are selected and laid out for switching behavior, noise immunity, and serviceable power-stage architecture on high-power boards.

02 / FAST FAULT RESPONSE

Hardware overcurrent trip

Analog detection can disable gate drive without waiting for a firmware control cycle. Fault latching and recovery behavior are designed around the inverter and motor.

03 / CURRENT FEEDBACK

Three-phase sensing

Precision phase shunts and high-CMRR amplifiers support stable current reconstruction under PWM switching noise. Current quality directly affects FOC torque control.

04 / SWITCHING & THERMALS

Snubbing, decoupling, cooling

RC snubbers, local ceramic decoupling, bus layout, heatsinking, and liquid-cooling interfaces are evaluated together to manage voltage overshoot and sustained load.

03 / OPEN ECOSYSTEM

VESC® foundation.
Our own hardware.

Our low- to medium-voltage platforms are developed within the open-source VESC® ecosystem. VESC Tool supports configuration, motor detection, telemetry, and FOC commissioning. Our work spans controller hardware, integration, motor behavior, and application-specific tuning.

For enterprise high-voltage SiC programs, we develop proprietary bare-metal firmware around the isolation, sensing, and protection requirements of the system.

VESC® is a third-party open-source ecosystem. GPropulsion controller hardware is independently designed and developed.

04 / HIGH-VOLTAGE R&D

Isolation at
automotive voltage.

400V/800V traction architectures require controlled isolation boundaries, fault containment, and measurement integrity through fast switching transients.

400V CLASS

Galvanically isolated control

Isolated logic and gate-signal paths for IGBT traction modules, with resolver or encoder interfaces and hardware fault handling.

800V CLASS / R&D

Silicon Carbide switching

Research-stage 1200V SiC device architecture with isolated dual-channel gate drive and proprietary bare-metal control.

MEASUREMENT / R&D

Delta-sigma current sensing

High-speed isolated delta-sigma measurement keeps low-voltage control electronics separated from the high-voltage measurement domain.
